After further FMT doses on March 25 and April 22, Monica stopped all of her bipolar medications. Her depressed mood fell to “none” most days and stayed there through July. For about four months, I had my wife back.
It wasn’t simple. Her elevated mood rose too, and her sleep fell to about five hours a night, sometimes less. On April 12 she logged psychotic symptoms. That pattern can be hypomania, so as a precaution we restarted one of her antipsychotic medications.
A follow-up microbiome test on April 28 showed above-average diversity and a profile much closer to a healthy adult’s than in January.
