A diagnosis, and a move across the country

A COVID job loss, a sudden move to Colorado, and a bipolar II diagnosis in September 2020.

Diagnosis

In May 2020 Monica lost her job in the hotel industry to COVID. In July we dropped our lease in Washington, D.C. and moved to Colorado, a decision that looks, in hindsight, like it had some hypomania in it. In September 2020 she was diagnosed with bipolar II disorder.

Looking further back, Monica had three rounds of antibiotics for a recurring lung infection in 2019. We didn’t connect that to her gut, or her gut to her mood, until years later.
